HM3 is the future of jazz fusion...

Dernière mise à jour : 31 mai 2023

Composed by Hedvig Mollestad Trio (HM3), Tempest Revisited has lately dropped on youtube and the magic of it breaks any barrier between HardRock, Jazz and Classical music.

Knowing that HardRock and Jazz fusion are Hedvigs signature, we sure wondered where the classical inspiration came from ?!

Digging deeper, we discovered that Tempest Revisited was in fact inspired from Arne Nordheim’s ballet piece which is actually adapted from Sheakspeare’s Tragedy named The Tempest…

“Tempest Revisited seamlessly twins harmonic lyricism, soundscape textures, and powerful dynamics. The end result is" her most diverse -- and musically compelling -- album.” says Thom Jurek in an AllMusic critique. And if you ask me... I'd say that her music is really consistent, eccentric, vibing in between doom, jazz and stoner rock with a few classic touches.

On this album Hedvig has led a band with three saxophones, Drums, Bass Drum, Vocals, Handclaps, Piano, Flute, Vibraphone, and of course Guitar and Bass…

Now one thing is sure, This album sounds like nothing we’ve ever heard before and we’ll just have you check it by yourself.

Fairly deemed a revelation by critics, the Norwegian guitarist, vocalist and composer has founded her eponymous trio Hedvig Mollestad Trio (Aka HM3) in 2009 featuring Ivar Loe Bjørnstad and Ellen Brekken. The band has since then released seven albums including All of them Witches, Enfant Terrible!, Smells Funny and lately, in 2021, Ding Dong. You’re Dead…

With such daring titles and totally unexpected fusions HM3 know how to outstand the crowd making them one of our favourite bands of the moment. On their website, HM3 describe their genre as "Outgoing & progressive instrumental rock". Bref...everything we love.
