PACIFICA AND THE FREAK SCENE...

Have you ever wondered how some bands come together ? Or, how do they make it in the music industry as indies ? This is the story of Pacifica, a pop/punk-rock argentinian band of two girls ; Ines Adam and Martina Nintzel. 

In 2021, the band was brought together by an instagram follower's suggestion, according to an interview given to Lalalista. Both members were doing covers on youtube when a fan suggested they do a cover together. Shortly after, the girls did a tribute to  "The Strokes" by playing their song "12:51". It was a hit, and the band was formed !

Soon enough they ended up playing at "The Bitter End" Rock’n’Roll club in New York, in which they kept playing several more times after that. 

Apparently, as much as the girls appreciated tribute bands, they didn't particularly want to be one. They’re first covers compilation recording was titled Not A Cover Band, giving us a hint about their future plans. Shortly after, the girls went back to Argentina and cooked up their debut album Freak Scene, released in 2023, from which we have selected the song With or Without you. 

In December 2023, they went on tour across Europe and made this little documentary. More like a vlog, it retraces their itinerary, funny tour stories, and concert snippets. 

The band is still blooming, gradually gaining followers on Youtube and social media. Regardless, their songs are like sweet time travel into oldie but goldie 2000s MTVs with bands like Simple Plan, Paramore and Blink-182. Their aesthetic perfectly contrasts the band's modern fresh and vintage vibes.

It's one of those underrated gems you come across and tell yourself they definitely deserve to be seen, to be heard, and to gain more audience. Pacifica is a nice pull-away from what we already know.
